How to Order Flowers to Vienna: Ring Hotels, Altbau Flats, Paying with a Foreign Card and Everything You Need to Know About Delivery Across the Viennese Bezirke

In short: to order flowers to Vienna from another country, send us four lines on WhatsApp — who, where, when and which bouquet. "Where" in Vienna means a hotel plus the guest's name as on the booking, or an address the Viennese way: street, house number / Stiege / Tür and the surname on the intercom. Pay with a card from any bank in any country, Apple/Google Pay, Wise, SWIFT or USDT — no Austrian Bankomatkarte needed; the euro price is fixed at confirmation and the recipient pays nothing. Monday to Saturday, confirmed in the morning Vienna time, the bouquet usually arrives the same day; on Sundays and Austrian public holidays Vienna's florists are closed, so those dates are ordered a day ahead. You get a photo of the bouquet before the courier leaves and a confirmation after hand-over.

The catalog — flowers in Vienna, prices in euros, 30 bouquets from €176.

How Do I Order Flowers to Vienna? The Short Answer

Open WhatsApp and write: who (the recipient's name and phone), where (hotel + guest name, or an address with Stiege and Tür), when (the day and a window in Vienna time) and what (a bouquet name from the catalog, or a budget and the occasion). We reply, clear up the details, give you a delivery window and send a payment link. After payment a florist in Vienna makes the bouquet, you get its photo before the courier even leaves, the courier hands the flowers over in person, to the doorman or the concierge — and you receive a confirmation with the hand-over time. From Moscow, Almaty, Dubai or Berlin the whole order is ten minutes of messaging; the rest is on us.

Four Lines for WhatsApp: Who, Where, When, What

Who. The name as it is known at home and on the intercom: for a flat — the surname on the plate; for a hotel — the name in Latin letters exactly as on the booking ("Anna Petrova", not "Anya"). The recipient's phone is a must: a Viennese courier calls before coming up, because in an Altbau the intercom may be at the courtyard gate rather than the flat door. If it is a surprise, say so — the courier introduces themselves as "a delivery" and does not name the sender before hand-over.

Where. A Vienna address reads "Josefstädter Straße 24/2/11": house number / Stiege (staircase) / Tür (door, i.e. the flat). The postcode names the district at once: 1010 Innere Stadt, 1020 Leopoldstadt, 1030 Landstraße, 1040 Wieden, 1060 Mariahilf, 1070 Neubau, 1080 Josefstadt, 1090 Alsergrund, 1130 Hietzing, 1180 Währing, 1190 Döbling, 1220 Donaustadt. If you only know the street and number, we still manage — we ask the recipient for the Tür by phone.

When. A window in Vienna time (CET/CEST): Moscow is 1–2 hours ahead, Almaty 4–5, Dubai 2–3. "For dinner" in Vienna means 7–8:30 pm, "for hotel check-in" 3–5 pm, "to the office in the morning" 9:30–11 am. If the date is a Sunday or an Austrian holiday, we suggest Saturday or Monday straight away.

What. A bouquet from the Vienna catalog by name, or just a budget, occasion and colours — "up to €300, for my mother, soft, no lilies". The card can be in English, Russian or German: the Viennese read "Alles Liebe zum Geburtstag" with a smile.

The Viennese Address Done Right: Stiege, Tür, Intercom and the Hausbesorger

Vienna is a city of apartment buildings: late-19th-century Altbau tenements inside the Gürtel, post-war and new Neubau blocks, and vast municipal estates — Gemeindebau like the Karl-Marx-Hof in Döbling, where one building can have thirty staircases. So the Stiege in the address is no formality: without it the courier would look for flat 11 across thirty staircases.

Viennese intercoms (Gegensprechanlage) carry surnames, not numbers, and for rentals, Airbnbs and students the name on the plate is often someone else's — the owner's, a previous tenant's, a flatmate's. Tell us what is written on the button. Altbau buildings have no lift but do have a "Mezzanin" and a "Hochparterre", which turn the third floor into the fifth — the courier counts flights on the spot. In buildings with a Hausbesorger (caretaker) the bouquet can be left with them, but only if you allowed it in advance; we never leave flowers on the doorstep or in the mail area.

Flowers to a Ring Hotel: What the Concierge Asks and When Check-in Is

Vienna's grand hotels line the Ringstrasse, each with one main entrance: Hotel Sacher — Philharmonikerstraße 4, right behind the Opera; Hotel Imperial — Kärntner Ring 16; Hotel Bristol — Kärntner Ring 1, opposite the Opera; Grand Hotel Wien — Kärntner Ring 9; The Ritz-Carlton — Schubertring 5–7; Palais Hansen Kempinski — Schottenring 24; Park Hyatt — Am Hof 2, in a former bank; Rosewood — Petersplatz 7 by the Peterskirche; Almanac Palais — Parkring 14–16 by the Stadtpark; Andaz — Arsenalstraße 10 by the Belvedere and the Hauptbahnhof. Boutiques — Hotel Motto at Schadekgasse 4 in Mariahilf, Hotel Altstadt at Kirchengasse 41 in Neubau, Hotel Sans Souci at Burggasse 2 by the MuseumsQuartier, 25hours by the MuseumsQuartier.

The concierge needs two things: the guest's name as on the booking and the date the guest is in the house. No room number — they would not tell you anyway. We call reception ahead and ask: will they accept flowers, place them in the room for check-in (Viennese check-in is from 3 pm, sometimes 2 pm; check-out by 11 am or noon) or hand them over when the guest appears, and is a vase needed. The hotel decides: we have no hotel partnerships, every delivery is agreed individually. If the guest checks out in the morning, the bouquet must be at the hotel the evening before, not "in the morning for breakfast".

How Payment Works: Any Country's Card, Wise, SWIFT, USDT — and Why You Need No Bankomatkarte

Vienna still has plenty of "Nur Bargeld" — cash only — signs, and where there is a terminal it is often set up for the Austrian Bankomatkarte or EU cards. Ordering from abroad directly from a Viennese flower shop, that is exactly where you may get stuck. With us payment works differently:

  • A card from any bank in any country — Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, Apple Pay and Google Pay; the invoice is in euros and the 3-D Secure confirmation lands in your banking app. For Russian and Kazakh bank cards we suggest a working route before issuing the invoice.
  • A Wise or SWIFT transfer — for corporate orders and when you need an invoice to a company; details and the amount in euros.
  • USDT (TRC-20/ERC-20) — the rate is fixed at confirmation, you send the transaction hash, and it clears in minutes.

The euro price is fixed at confirmation and never changes; delivery inside the Gürtel and to Döbling, Hietzing and Donau City is already included. The recipient pays nothing: not the courier, not "for delivery", not "for the vase" — there is no cash at hand-over at all. The receipt and, if needed, an invoice with company details come to your WhatsApp.

When the Bouquet Arrives: Vienna Time, Sonntagsruhe and Feiertage

The first Viennese rule is Sonntagsruhe: on Sundays almost everything is closed, flower shops and the wholesale market included. The same goes for public holidays: New Year, Epiphany on 6 January, Easter Monday, 1 May, Ascension, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi, 15 August, 26 October (National Day), 1 November, 8, 25 and 26 December. On Saturdays shops close at 6 pm, so Saturday-evening orders are best confirmed before noon.

Monday to Saturday, confirmed in the morning Vienna time, the bouquet usually arrives the same day — the window is given before payment. Baskets, 101 roses and large arrangements such as the "Prater Basket" need 1–2 days. If the date falls on a Sunday, we deliver on Saturday (that is how the whole of Muttertag works) or by pre-order on the day itself when it can be arranged in advance.

Where the Courier Goes: the Pedestrian Centre, the Ring, the Gürtel and Across the Danube

The Innere Stadt (1010) is the pedestrian Kärntner Straße, Graben and Kohlmarkt and lanes where cars cannot go: the courier leaves the car by the Ring and walks the last few hundred metres, so we allow 15–20 extra minutes for the centre. The Ring is a one-way boulevard around the centre and the Gürtel is the second ring; districts 1–9 inside it are routine, as are Hietzing by Schönbrunn (13) and Währing and Döbling (18–19) with their villas and the Heurigen of Grinzing. Across the Danube — Donaustadt (22) with Donau City, the DC Tower and the Vienna International Centre, and Floridsdorf (21) — also routine, with a wider window. Schwechat and the airport, Klosterneuburg, Mödling and Baden are on request and a day ahead.

Five Viennese Scenarios: Flat, Hotel, Office, Clinic, Student Hall

An Altbau flat. An address with Stiege/Tür and the surname on the intercom, a call to the recipient before coming up, hand-over in person. If nobody is home — a second attempt at an agreed time, or the Hausbesorger with your permission.

A Ring hotel. The guest's name as on the booking, a call to the concierge ahead, the bouquet in the room for check-in or handed over when the guest appears; the photo to you, the confirmation afterwards.

An office in Donau City or by the UN. To the company reception with the employee's name, in working hours. The courier cannot enter the Vienna International Centre (UNO City) grounds — the bouquet is handed over at the gate as arranged with the recipient.

A clinic. The Privatklinik Döbling, Rudolfinerhaus, Confraternität and the regular wards of the AKH take flowers via the ward desk with the patient's name; intensive care and haematology-oncology do not admit fresh flowers — there we suggest a boxed arrangement or delivery home for discharge day.

A student hall and a Heuriger. Student houses by the University and the WU take bouquets at reception or via the porter in their hours — we check. A Heuriger in Grinzing or Nussdorf — to the maître d' for the booking time, but Heurigen open seasonally: before setting off we check that the courtyard is "ausg'steckt".

Which Bouquet to Send to Vienna — and What the Vienna Catalog Holds

Vienna likes restrained floristry: pastels, mono bouquets, vase arrangements and baskets — in the spirit of the flower stalls at the Naschmarkt and by the Volksgarten. Two local points: white chrysanthemums in Austria are the flowers of Allerheiligen and cemeteries, so we keep them out of gift bouquets; the Viennese do not count stems, but for a Russian-speaking recipient we keep the number odd out of habit.

The Viennese Calendar: When to Order Ahead

The ball season — from January to the Opernball on the Thursday before Ash Wednesday: flowers in the room for the ball, a debutante's bouquet, roses for a Fiaker ride — order 2–3 days ahead, the Ring hotels are full. 14 February — Valentinstag, the busiest day of the year for Viennese florists. 8 March is not a holiday in Austria, but Russian-speaking Vienna keeps it — we take orders a day ahead. Muttertag — the second Sunday of May: we deliver on Saturday. May–June — Matura and the Maturaball, bouquets for graduates at schools and halls. Advent — the Christkindlmarkt at the Rathaus, corporate baskets and Christmas flowers; on 24 December shops close early. 1 November — Allerheiligen: chrysanthemums go to the Zentralfriedhof, not to a friend. And the Viennese superstition: nobody is congratulated before their birthday — the bouquet arrives on the day itself, never a day early.

Two Orders to Vienna: What It Looks Like in Practice

From Almaty — to a mother in Döbling, for her birthday. The daughter writes at 9 am Almaty time (5 am in Vienna) with the address "Krottenbachstraße …/3/9, 1190", the surname on the intercom and her mother's phone. We confirm at 9:30 Vienna time, offer a 2–4 pm window and send the link; payment with a Kazakh bank card goes through 3-D Secure. At 1:40 pm — a photo of the "Schönbrunn Basket" on WhatsApp; at 3:10 pm the courier calls from downstairs and climbs the third Stiege; at 3:15 pm — the confirmation and the mother's reaction in a voice message.

From Dubai — to a wife at the Hotel Imperial, Opernball week. The husband flies in later and wants the flowers to greet his wife at check-in. We need the name as on the booking and the arrival date; we call the Imperial, the concierge confirms the bouquet will be in the room by 3 pm and the hotel provides the vase. Payment in USDT, the rate fixed at confirmation. The evening before — a photo of the "Mariahilf Peonies"; on arrival day at 2:20 pm — hand-over to the concierge at Kärntner Ring 16 and a confirmation with the name of the staff member who took the flowers.

What We Honestly Don't Promise in Vienna

We do not deliver "to St. Stephen's", "to Schönbrunn", "to the Prater" or "to the Donauinsel" — landmarks and parks are not addresses; we hand over at a café, hotel or flat nearby. We do not enter the UNO City grounds, intensive care units or station platforms — only the gate, the ward desk, the waiting hall. We do not promise hand-over "at exactly 7 pm": we give a window and keep it. We do not deliver on Sundays and Feiertage without a pre-order. The hotel decides what goes to the room; we own no hotels and hold no partnerships with them. And we never take a "surcharge" from the recipient.

A Message Template: Copy and Send

"Hello! I'd like to order flowers to Vienna. Recipient: Anna Petrova, +43 … Where: Hotel Bristol, Kärntner Ring 1, guest Anna Petrova, check-in 14 February / or: Josefstädter Straße 24/2/11, 1080, 'Petrova' on the intercom. When: 14 February, 3–5 pm Vienna time. What: 'Mariahilf Peonies' or a soft bouquet up to €350. Card: 'Alles Liebe — yours, M.' I'll pay by card / Wise / USDT. It's a surprise."

That is enough: we ask one or two follow-up questions and send the window and the payment link.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ordering Flowers to Vienna

Do I need the hotel room number? No. Viennese hotels do not give room numbers to outsiders; the concierge accepts the bouquet in the guest's name and takes it to the room or hands it over when the guest appears.

Can I order anonymously? Yes — the courier introduces themselves as "a flower delivery", and you sign the card as you wish or not at all. We do not name the sender unless you ask us to.

What if the recipient is not at home? The courier calls, waits a reasonable time, then we agree a second attempt the same or the next day, or hand-over to the Hausbesorger — only with your consent. We never leave flowers on the doorstep.

Do you deliver to the Hauptbahnhof or Schwechat airport? To the station — at an agreed meeting point in the hall (a meeting, not left luggage); we do not go onto platforms. To the airport — on request and a day ahead, meeting in arrivals.

Can I order from Germany or Switzerland and pay by SEPA? Yes — a euro transfer to our details, or a card; an invoice to a company on request. There is no time difference with Vienna, so you name the window by your own clock.

What should I write on the card in German? "Alles Gute zum Geburtstag" — happy birthday; "Alles Liebe" — with love; "Herzlichen Glückwunsch" — congratulations; "Gute Besserung" — get well soon. Or in English or Russian — the Viennese will read it too, if that is the recipient's language.

Where is the best place to propose in Paris?
