Wedding Bouquets in Barcelona: Mediterranean Style, Venues, Lead Times, Prices and How to Order from Abroad

Barcelona is one of Europe's three great destination-wedding capitals alongside Tuscany and Amalfi: the sea, the Gothic Quarter, Gaudí's modernisme, 300 days of sun, olive groves half an hour away and the Costa Brava beaches an hour out. Couples from London, Dubai, Moscow and Tel Aviv marry here in Gothic Quarter chapels, on the terraces of Passeig de Gràcia hotels and at villas in Sitges — and almost all of them ask for the same thing: a bridal bouquet that looks as if it was just gathered in a garden by the sea. This article is a practical guide to wedding floristry in Barcelona: what Mediterranean style is, where it looks best, which flowers are in season, what a bridal bouquet and full decoration cost, how far ahead to order and how to organise everything if you are planning the wedding from another country.

Mediterranean-style bridal bouquet: white peonies, cream ranunculus, waxflower and olive greenery with a silk ribbon — wedding bouquets in Barcelona

In short: a bridal bouquet in Barcelona costs from €120 (compact), a classic Mediterranean one €180–250, premium and cascade €280–450; a full floristry package (bouquet, boutonnieres, corsages, arch, eight table arrangements) is €800–1500. Order 2–3 months ahead, at least 3 weeks for a full package and 5–7 days for the bridal bouquet alone. We deliver to the bride 1.5–2 hours before the ceremony across Barcelona, to Sitges, Castelldefels, Sant Cugat and the Costa Brava. Consultation on WhatsApp or Zoom in English and Russian, 30 % deposit.

What Mediterranean Wedding Floristry Is

Mediterranean style is not "white flowers with greenery" but a specific language built on a connection with the Catalan landscape. Unlike the lush English bouquet or the romantic French one, it is restrained and "natural":

  • Palette — ivory, cream, champagne, shades of white, sage green, occasionally a dusty-pink or terracotta accent. No brightness.
  • Greenery — olive branches (the symbol of the Mediterranean), populus and cinerea eucalyptus, ruscus, rosemary, lavender. Lots of it — it is the bouquet's structure, not a garnish.
  • Flowers — white peonies, ranunculus, garden roses (David Austin, Patience, Juliet), lisianthus, waxflower, gypsophila, sometimes wild grasses and dried elements.
  • Shape — natural, asymmetric, as if just gathered. No rigid dome.
  • Ribbon — ivory silk or satin, long and flowing.

That is exactly the bouquet on the cover photo: white peonies, cream ranunculus, waxflower, olive greenery and a silk ribbon. It was made by our florists in Barcelona and has become our "signature" wedding bouquet — the one brides ask us to recreate most often.

Why This Style Works in Barcelona Specifically

When the bride steps out of the chapel of Santa Maria del Pi or walks down an estate path among olive trees holding a bouquet of those same olive branches, the image becomes whole — the bouquet does not "sit on top" but belongs to the place. There are practical reasons too. Ivory and white dresses: a bouquet in the same palette does not compete with the bride. Barcelona's light is soft and golden, especially from 17:00 to sunset: white and cream flowers "glow" in photos. The heat: olive, eucalyptus, rosemary and waxflower do not wilt in the sun the way tender hydrangeas do, and we keep peonies and garden roses on hydrogel. And versatility: the same language works for an official ceremony in a Catalan castle, a private wedding at a villa in Sitges, and an elopement on the cliffs of the Costa Brava.

Venues in Barcelona and Around Where This Style Looks Best

  • Gothic Quarter and El Born — the basilicas of Santa Maria del Mar and Santa Maria del Pi for the ceremony, then dinner in El Born or at the Hotel Neri. A more compact bouquet — the streets are narrow and photos are close-up.
  • Passeig de Gràcia and the Eixample — hotel terraces and courtyards: Cotton House (a white-columned courtyard for 20–40 guests), Mandarin Oriental (the Mimosa garden), Majestic (a rooftop facing the Sagrada Família), El Palace, Casa Fuster in Gràcia, Almanac. The classic €180–250 Mediterranean bouquet is the standard here.
  • By the sea — W Barcelona and Hotel Arts: minimalism, white sand, sunset; a cascade bouquet against the sea looks expensive.
  • Montjuïc and Pedralbes — the Montjuïc gardens, Palauet Albéniz (by special permit), the Pedralbes monastery for photos.
  • Out of town, 20–40 minutes — Castell de Sant Marçal (a Catalan castle with olive gardens), Mas Salagros in Vallromanes (an eco-estate among olive trees — the most "Mediterranean" venue), Mas Cabanyes in Argentona, Can Ribas in the Montseny, the haciendas and beaches of Sitges, Castelldefels and Gavà Mar.
  • Costa Brava, 1–1.5 hours — Cala Banys in Lloret de Mar (a ceremony on the cliffs above the sea), Castell d'Empordà, Convent de Blanes, the coves of Tossa de Mar and Begur. For these venues we work through the Costa Brava catalog and bring the bouquets from Barcelona on the morning of the wedding.

Civil ceremonies in Barcelona are registered at district Ajuntament offices and, for special occasions, in the Saló de Cent; foreign couples most often choose a symbolic ceremony at the venue plus registration at home — which changes nothing for the floristry.

What a Full Wedding Floristry Package Includes

  • Bridal bouquet — the main accent, 22–28 cm, round or cascade.
  • Groom's boutonniere — one peony or ranunculus plus a sprig of olive or eucalyptus.
  • Groomsmen's boutonnieres — 2–6, matching the groom.
  • Bridesmaids' wrist corsages or mini-bouquets — on ribbon, very popular in Mediterranean styling.
  • Flower girl basket — white rose petals for the aisle.
  • Ceremony arch or installation — a eucalyptus-and-olive base with white accents; for the beach, an asymmetric "half-arch".
  • Table arrangements — low, so they do not block conversation: gypsophila, waxflower, an olive branch, candles in glass.
  • Photo-zone and welcome-sign decor, aisle petals and post-ceremony confetti.
  • Flowers for the parents — bouquets for the mothers on the day: from the catalog couples choose Tenderness €248, Summer Garden €398 or Royal Charm €1111 for a parents' anniversary.

Which Flowers Are in Season — by Month

  • May–June — peak peony season, ranunculus, David Austin garden roses, lisianthus, waxflower, gypsophila. The best time for a classic Mediterranean bouquet and for a Barcelona wedding in general.
  • July–August — heat of 30–35 °C. In season: garden roses, freesias, lisianthus, eustoma, waxflower, proteas; peonies imported only, 20–30 % more expensive. The bridal bouquet travels in a water box in an air-conditioned car and is handed over 1.5–2 hours before the ceremony.
  • September–October — perfect weather, the most popular destination-wedding months: dahlias, roses, ranunculus returning, eustoma, berries and dried elements for a rustic wedding.
  • November–April — off-season for local peonies, imported from the Netherlands and Ecuador (+20–30 %); in winter anemones, ranunculus, tulips, amaryllis; in April the first peonies for Sant Jordi.

Wedding prices are benchmarks: we fix the final quote after the moodboard and do not change it. Barcelona delivery is included; Sitges, Castelldefels, Sant Cugat and the Costa Brava are quoted separately before the deposit. Everyday catalog prices are in our Spain price guide.

How Far Ahead to Order and How We Work

Ideally 2–3 months ahead: we have time to match the palette to the dress, the venue decor and the groom's suit, make a trial bouquet for the engagement shoot, and reserve specific varieties (Patience peonies and Juliet roses are sourced to order). The minimum for a full package is 3 weeks; the bridal bouquet alone in season — 5–7 days.

  1. Consultation on WhatsApp or Zoom in English or Russian: style, budget, venue, date, number of guests.
  2. Moodboard — we send options and fix the palette and composition.
  3. 30 % deposit — the date is booked; the balance a week before.
  4. Two weeks before — final confirmation: timing, the venue coordinator's contacts, the address where the bride is getting ready.
  5. On the wedding day — the bouquet to the bride 1.5–2 hours before the ceremony (peonies have time to open), boutonnieres to the groom and groomsmen separately, venue decor at least 3 hours before the start.
  6. Breakdown — on request we collect the arrangements after the party or leave them for the guests.

If you are planning the wedding from another country, every step is remote: payment with any bank card (including Russian cards via a rouble transfer) or crypto, a photo of every element before dispatch, direct coordination with the wedding planner and the venue. For large projects — villa decoration, church ceremonies and receptions of 100+ guests — see our B2B wedding floristry hub.

Four Scenarios from Our Practice

  • An elopement in the Gothic Quarter. A couple from London, registration at home, a symbolic ceremony by Santa Maria del Pi, dinner at the Hotel Neri. A compact €180 bridal bouquet, a boutonniere, petals for photos — and that is all.
  • A 40-guest wedding at Cotton House. A classic €240 bouquet, 4 bridesmaid corsages, low arrangements for 5 tables, an arch in the courtyard. Package €1100.
  • An 80-guest beach wedding in Sitges. A €420 cascade bouquet, an asymmetric half-arch of eucalyptus and pampas grass, 10 tables, a welcome zone. Package €1500 plus delivery to Sitges.
  • A parents' wedding anniversary. Children in Moscow ordered Royal Charm €1111 for the table at Enoteca in the Hotel Arts and Summer Garden €398 for their mother at breakfast in the room. Both bouquets via the concierge, no hotel surcharge.

How everyday delivery works in Barcelona is in our flower delivery guide; if the wedding falls on Sant Jordi, read about roses on 23 April; the catalog for bouquets for parents and guests is flowers in Barcelona.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a bridal bouquet cost in Barcelona? From €120 for a compact one, €180–250 for a classic Mediterranean bouquet, €280–450 for premium or cascade. Delivery to the bride within Barcelona is included.

Can I order just the bridal bouquet, without decoration? Yes, that is most of our wedding orders. In season — 5–7 days ahead, delivered 1.5–2 hours before the ceremony.

Do you do weddings for couples planning everything from another country? Yes — a Zoom consultation, a moodboard, payment with any card or crypto, a photo of every element before dispatch, direct coordination with the planner and the venue.

Can I get the same bouquet as on the cover photo? Yes, it is our signature Barcelona bouquet: white peonies, cream ranunculus, waxflower, olive, silk ribbon. In peony season €180–250; out of season with imported peonies or garden roses.

Will the bouquet wilt in the heat before the ceremony? No: we deliver 1.5–2 hours before, in a water box and an air-conditioned car, with hydrogel at the base. The bouquet stays photo-ready for 8–10 hours; for July–August we recommend garden roses and ranunculus instead of hydrangeas.

Do you deliver to venues outside Barcelona? Yes — Sitges, Castelldefels, Gavà Mar, Sant Cugat, Vallromanes, the Montseny and the Costa Brava (Lloret, Tossa, Begur). Delivery is quoted before the deposit.

Do you make arches, tables and ceremony decor? Yes, the full package: arch or installation, aisle, guest tables, welcome zone, photo zone, petals. The quote depends on the number of tables and the size of the arch.

What if peonies are out of season? We import them (+20–30 %) or replace them with David Austin garden roses, large ranunculus and double eustoma — visually in the same palette.

Can I order bouquets for the mothers and grandmothers on the wedding day? Yes, from the catalog: Tenderness €248, Summer Garden €398, Royal Charm €1111 — delivered to the hotel or the venue together with the wedding flowers.

How do I pay from Russia? The 30 % deposit and the balance — by a rouble transfer at the day's rate to a Russian bank card, a foreign card, Apple/Google Pay or crypto. The quote is fixed in euros.
