How Much Do Flowers Really Cost in Marbella: Honest Prices from Mercadona to the Golden Mile — One Rose, a Bouquet, 101 Roses, a Wedding and What Delivery Includes

In short: in Marbella the same rose costs anywhere from €1 to €12 depending on where you buy it. A €4–8 bunch at Mercadona or Carrefour in San Pedro; a rose at €3–5 and a made-up bouquet for €30–60 at a neighbourhood floristería in the Casco Antiguo or on Avenida Ricardo Soriano; €90–300 for a designer bouquet at a boutique on the Golden Mile or in Puerto Banús; €150–500 for flowers in the room through the florist of Puente Romano or Marbella Club; from €3,000 for a wedding, and that is the bottom of Marbella's wedding market. A florist-made bouquet delivered to a hotel, villa or yacht with a photo before hand-over costs from €98 with us (compact €98–248), €268–490 for medium arrangements and €500–1,400 for premium — 51 roses €448, 101 roses €698, "Crown of Marbella" €1,400. Marbella is the most expensive flower market on the Costa del Sol, and below is an honest account of why, where it is cheaper, when it is dearer, and what €100, €300, €500 and €1,000 actually buy.

Catalogue and euro prices are on the flower delivery in Marbella page, by area: Puerto Banús, Golden Mile, Nueva Andalucía, Sierra Blanca, San Pedro de Alcántara, Casco Antiguo. On paying with a foreign card or USDT — a separate article. To compare with other cities — how much flowers cost in Madrid and in Barcelona, San Sebastián, Mallorca and Ibiza.

Why Flowers in Marbella Cost More Than in Málaga, Seville and Even Madrid

Four reasons, and none of them is a "resort mark-up for its own sake".

  1. Almost nothing people give as a gift grows here. Andalusia is a big producer of carnations (Chipiona and Sanlúcar in Cádiz) and subtropical fruit (avocado and mango in the Axarquía), but roses, peonies, hydrangeas and ranunculus reach Marbella from the Dutch auctions of Aalsmeer and Naaldwijk — by truck across the whole of Spain or by air into Málaga — or from Ecuador and Colombia via the same Amsterdam. Every rose has travelled 2,000+ km before it lands in a bucket on Ricardo Soriano. A Madrid florist has a shorter leg; a Barcelona florist has Mercabarna with its own flower hall next door; a Marbella florist has the Málaga wholesalers and Dutch trucks twice a week.
  2. The clientele. The Golden Mile, Sierra Blanca, La Zagaleta, Puerto Banús — one of the highest concentrations of villas and yachts in Europe. Florists here have worked for years for villas, five-star hotels and yachts, and their price lists reflect that market: the minimum order for villa delivery at a Golden Mile boutique is often €80–100, not €30.
  3. A season two months long. In July–August the town's population multiplies; florists hire staff for two months, rent cold storage and vans — and spread those costs across summer prices. In August it is "todo lleno": everything full, deliveries for tomorrow.
  4. Villa and urbanización logistics. A flower "into the hands" on the Golden Mile means a security gate, a call to the house manager, 15 minutes waiting at the barrier, often +20 minutes on the A-7 on a Friday evening. In Málaga a courier does three deliveries in that time — in Marbella, one. That is in the price too.

Bottom line: all else being equal, a bouquet in Marbella costs 20–40 % more than in Málaga and as much as or more than in Madrid — and Málaga itself is not a cheap city.

The Price Ladder: Where and for How Much People Buy Flowers in Marbella

A word on the "honest" price of a rose: €3–5 a stem at a neighbourhood shop is the normal Marbella price for an imported 50–60 cm rose; €1–1.50 exists only at the supermarket for a short rose that lives two days in the heat. A peony in May–June is €5–8 a stem, a hydrangea €7–12, a protea €8–15, a ranunculus €3–4 a stem in February–March.

Prices by Marbella Area: Where It Is Cheaper, Where Dearer, and Why

  • San Pedro de Alcántara. The most "local" district: the people who work in Marbella live here. Neighbourhood floristerías on Calle Marqués del Duero and by the market — a bouquet €25–50, the most honest prices in the municipality. Delivery to the Golden Mile from here is already outside their zone.
  • Casco Antiguo and the Alameda. The Old Town around Plaza de los Naranjos: shops serve tourists and locals at once, €35–70 a bouquet; during the San Bernabé fair and Semana Santa — queues and a thin selection.
  • Ricardo Soriano and the centre. The main shopping street: two or three mid-range floristerías, €40–80, delivery around the centre.
  • The Golden Mile. Between Marbella and Puerto Banús: boutiques working for the villas of Sierra Blanca and Nagüeles, Marbella Club and Puente Romano. €90–300, weekly vase contracts for villas from €150 a week.
  • Puerto Banús. Yachts, El Corte Inglés, boutiques on the promenade: the dearest single purchases in town — a bouquet €100–350; "to the yacht for dinner" is a separate service with boarding.
  • Nueva Andalucía and the Golf Valley. Many villas, few florists — flowers come here from Puerto Banús or San Pedro, so it is the San Pedro price plus delivery.
  • Sierra Blanca, La Zagaleta, Guadalmina, Los Monteros. Gated urbanizaciones: no florists inside at all, any bouquet here is a delivery through a security gate, and boutiques charge €15–40 extra for it. With us Sierra Blanca and Los Monteros are included, La Zagaleta and Guadalmina Baja on request.
  • Estepona and Benahavís. 20–40 minutes along the A-7: prices 15–20 % below Marbella's, but Estepona florists rarely agree to deliver into Marbella.

When Flowers in Marbella Get Dearer: The Price Calendar

  • 14 February — San Valentín. A rose in the shop rises from €3–5 to €6–8, red roses run out by the 13th; the Dutch auctions themselves raise prices 50–100 % that week. With us — pre-order 2–3 days ahead, catalogue price unchanged.
  • 28 February — Día de Andalucía. A regional holiday: shops closed, deliveries the day before.
  • Semana Santa (March–April). Marbella's centre is closed for processions, the Casco Antiguo is on foot only; florists are busy dressing the brotherhoods' floats — private orders run late.
  • First Sunday of May — Día de la Madre. Spain's biggest flower day, bigger than San Valentín: "for mum" bouquets sell out on Saturday, peonies and hydrangeas +30 %.
  • Early June — Feria de San Bernabé. Fair week: the Alameda and centre are closed, delivery into the Casco Antiguo by day only, on foot.
  • July–August — Starlite and "todo lleno". Concerts in the Nagüeles quarry, traffic on the Golden Mile after 20:00, hotels at 100 %; florists work on next-day pre-order, boutiques add a 10–20 % summer premium.
  • 1 November — Todos los Santos. Chrysanthemums and gladioli for the San Bernabé cemetery — the one day a queue stands outside the floristería; red roses are not given that day.
  • Christmas and Reyes (6 January). Poinsettias, amaryllis, baskets; 25 December and 1 January — pre-order 3 days ahead.
  • The calmest prices — late September to November and January–February (except San Valentín).

What Goes into €324 for a Medium Bouquet Delivered to a Villa

Take "Gibraltar Sunset" (€324) — a medium arrangement handed over at a villa in Nueva Andalucía.

  • Flowers — about 45 %. Dutch roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus, seasonal greenery at auction prices plus transport to Málaga; the florist budgets 10–15 % wastage for the heat.
  • Florist's work and materials — about 20 %. Making up, an aqua box or thermal wrap (mandatory in Marbella from May to October), kraft, ribbon, card.
  • Delivery — about 15 %. An air-conditioned car, the urbanización security gate, waiting at the barrier, agreeing a window with the house manager; on Friday evenings, the A-7.
  • Service — about 20 %. Messaging in Russian or English, a photo of the bouquet before departure, hand-over confirmation, payment by a card from any country with no fee for the recipient, replacement in case of force majeure.

Could you assemble more yourself for that money in San Pedro? Yes, if you are in Marbella with a car, an hour to spare and a florist you know. This article is more often for someone in Moscow, London, Dubai or Almaty who wants a bouquet to appear on the Golden Mile by seven in the evening.

What €100, €300, €500 and €1,000 Actually Buy in Marbella

  • €98–150. "Plaza de los Naranjos" (€98) — a compact light bouquet for a birthday in a Nueva Andalucía apartment or a welcome at Málaga–Costa del Sol; "Golden Mile Kiss" (€108), "Puerto Banús Breeze" (€128), "Alameda Morning" (€142). This is the level of a good neighbourhood floristería plus delivery, a photo and a card.
  • €200–250. "Nueva Andalucía Roses" (€200), "San Pedro Carousel" (€240), "Río Verde Tenderness" (€248) — bouquets for a villa visit and anniversaries.
  • €300–400. "Gibraltar Sunset" (€324), "Marbella Club Basket" (€382), "Puente Romano Garden" (€398) — medium arrangements for a Golden Mile suite or a yacht in Puerto Banús.
  • €448 — "51 Roses of the Golden Mile". Fifty-one roses — at a Golden Mile boutique such a bouquet costs €400–550; with us, delivered and photographed, €448.
  • €500–800. "Scarlet Marbella" (€500), "Marbella Duo 101 Roses" (€698), "Puerto Banús Arrangement" (€798) — a proposal, a jubilee, a big occasion; 101 roses through a hotel florist in Marbella would start at €1,000.
  • €1,111–1,400. "Golden Mile Charm" (€1,111) and "Crown of Marbella" (€1,400) — arrangements at the level of a wedding table or a Puente Romano suite; made in 2–3 days.

All prices are for the bouquet in the photo; delivery across Marbella, the Golden Mile, Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucía, San Pedro, Sierra Blanca and Los Monteros is included; Estepona, Benahavís and La Zagaleta on request with a quote before payment.

How Not to Overpay for Flowers in Marbella: Seven Honest Rules

  1. Buy "for a vase at home" at the supermarket and "as a gift" from a florist. A €6 bunch from Mercadona lives happily in the kitchen but does not look like a present.
  2. Avoid the hotel florist unless you need the hotel's wrapping. The same bouquet to the Marbella Club concierge from an outside florist is one and a half to two times cheaper.
  3. Order 2–3 days ahead for San Valentín, Día de la Madre and 25 December — on these dates both the selection and the price at the shops are at their worst.
  4. Do not drive roses from Málaga in the boot in August. Half an hour on the A-7 at +35 °C and the bouquet wilts before hand-over; an aqua box and air-conditioning are not a luxury.
  5. In summer choose hardy flowers: roses, hydrangeas in an aqua box, orchids, proteas, anthuriums; peonies only in May–June — in July you pay double for "out of season".
  6. Confirm gated-urbanización delivery before paying — boutiques charge €15–40 for it; with us Sierra Blanca and Los Monteros are in the price.
  7. Compare the result, not the stems. 51 roses for €448 delivered and photographed versus 51 roses at €5 each on Ricardo Soriano (€255) plus paper, ribbon, your drive and no photo — the gap is smaller than it looks.
