St. Moritz isn't one town but three different worlds on one lake.

St. Moritz Dorf — Grand Hotels and Via Serlas

The upper village on the sunny slope above the lake. Here is Via Serlas — the most expensive shopping street in the Alps with Chanel, Hermès and Bulgari — the square with the leaning Schiefer Turm, the railway station and the valley stations of the Corviglia funicular. Dorf's grand hotels are the history of the resort: Badrutt's Palace (1896, the tower that symbolises the town, the Chesa Veglia restaurant in a 1658 farmhouse), Kulm Hotel (1856, where Johannes Badrutt won his bet with English guests and invented winter tourism), Carlton Hotel (suites only, lake views), Hotel Schweizerhof, Crystal Hotel, Hotel Steffani. St. Moritz Bad — the Lake, the Spa and Apartments

What to See in the Engadin

Corviglia and Piz Nair — St. Moritz's home mountain: a funicular from Dorf, 155 km of pistes, the El Paradiso restaurant with its terrace above the valley and the Piz Nair viewpoint at 3,057 m. Corvatsch (3,303 m) — the highest lift station in eastern Switzerland with views of Piz Bernina, the glaciers and the whole chain of lakes; on Fridays there's night skiing on a floodlit 4.2 km run. Diavolezza — the "devil's mountain" by the Bernina pass with a panorama of the Morteratsch and Pers glaciers; in summer guided glacier walks start here. Muottas Muragl — a 1907 funicular from Punt Muragl to 2,456 m, the best terrace in the valley at sunset and a favourite spot for proposals.

The Bernina Express — the red train of the Rhaetian Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site: from St. Moritz through Pontresina, past the Morteratsch glacier and Lago Bianco on the Bernina pass (2,253 m), down the Brusio spiral viaduct to Tirano in Italy. The winter season opens in early December and runs to mid-April: 322 sunny days a year, dry air, −5 to −15 °C in January and guaranteed snow at altitude. Summer is June–September: +20 °C by day, kitesurfing and windsurfing on Lake Silvaplana, 580 km of trails, swimming in Lej da Staz and the Festival da Jazz at the Kulm's Dracula Club.

Peak dates when we ask you to order ahead:

• Christmas and New Year (23 December – 6 January). Hotels are booked a year ahead, gala dinners at Badrutt's Palace and the Kulm, fireworks over the lake on 31 December. We book bouquets 2–3 days ahead and deliver by day.

How to Deliver Flowers to a St. Moritz Hotel or Chalet

Grand hotels. The concierge at Badrutt's Palace, Kulm, Suvretta House, Carlton, Kempinski, Kronenhof or Walther accepts the bouquet under the guest's name as on the booking — no room number needed. The flowers are taken to the room or the guest is notified; for a check-in surprise give us the arrival date and the bouquet will be waiting in the room. We send you a photo of the finished bouquet before the courier leaves and a confirmation after handover.

Chalets and apartments. There is usually no concierge here. We need the street and house number, the surname on the letterbox or intercom and the recipient's phone — the courier calls 15–20 minutes ahead. A Three-Day Plan
